Benidorm – for science, not for the soul 🏙️😂
Okay, we had to do it – we took a little detour to Benidorm, mostly out of curiosity. And let’s be honest, the kids were fascinated by the skyline that looks like someone clicked “duplicate” on every high-rise.
But the real star (or should we say punchline) is Intempo – the now-complete but once infamous golden twin-tower skyscraper that tried so hard to be Dubai... and ended up more like a PowerPoint fail in 3D.
This 47-story beast made headlines for one big oops: when it was first designed, they forgot to include an elevator to the top floors. Yes, really. You’d have to hike your groceries past the 20-somethingth floor. It sat half-finished for years, a gleaming symbol of architectural ambition and budget-induced humility.

They’ve since fixed it (yes, there are now elevators!), but the legend lives on – and honestly, it’s worth swinging by just to see it and chuckle. We stayed in the car, snapped a photo, and kept rolling. The contrast with Altea's peaceful charm couldn't be more extreme.
So if you're in the area, do a quick drive-by. Take in the grandeur, have a laugh, and then get back to somewhere with soul. Like literally anywhere else.
